FICCADENTI & WAGGONER Consulting Structural Engineers, Inc. was established
in 1991 on the premise that providing structural engineering services
to a diverse group of high quality clients will lead to lasting business
relationships. Since then, F&W has grown to over 50 employees
with offices in Irvine, California; Walnut Creek, California; and
Las Vegas, Nevada. Over 60 percent of our engineering staff are licensed
Civil or Structural Engineers. In addition, over 40 percent of our
professional staff hold a Master of Science degree from University
of California-Berkeley, Stanford, University of Illinois, or University
of California-Irvine. Our qualifications and extensive experience
enable us to back our creative design solutions with fundamental engineering
principles. All of our projects are managed, directed, and engineered
by an F&W principal who is responsible for maintaining the client
relationship and providing the experience and technical resources
to ensure success.

Principals
|
Seb J. Ficcadenti has over twenty-five years of experience in structural engineering design, evaluation and retrofit of building structures. His background combines a strong technical knowledge with practical construction experience and effective communication skills. He successfully has applied innovative engineering solutions to a broad range of construction challenges as Engineer of Record on hundreds of building projects. Mr. Ficcadenti also serves as a forensic structural engineer. He has evaluated construction problems, insurance damage claims and construction defect allegations in California, Nevada and Arizona. When a forensic assignment involves litigation, Mr. Ficcadenti serves as an expert witness. He has testified in over 30 trials, as well as in numerous depositions, arbitrations and appraisal hearings. Mr. Ficcadenti earned both his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering and his Master of Science in structural engineering from Stanford University, in addition to his Master of Business Administration from University of California Los Angeles. Mr. Ficcadenti has conducted research and lectured on the behavior of timber residential structures, reinforced concrete structures and post tensioned concrete structures at the University of California in Irvine and California State University in Long Beach. His research papers have been published in the convention proceedings of professional structural engineering associations and related research organizations.
Michael A. Waggoner has over fifteen years experience administering a wide range of projects. He has significant experience in the design and investigation of amusement facilities, themed building exteriors, office buildings, parking structures, seismic rehabilitations, retail and restaurant facilities. He has been Engineer of Record on over four hundred million dollars of construction throughout California. Mr. Waggoner received his Bachelors degree from California State Polytechnical University in Pomona, and earned his Masters degree from the University of California at Berkeley. He is a registered Structural Engineer in over fourteen states and remains and active member of the Structural Engineers Association of Southern California, the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute, and the American Concrete Institute.
Thomas A. Castle brings with him over ten years experience in structural engineering design. His areas of interest include the design of earthquake resistant structures and seismic analysis of existing structures. He has been responsible for numerous building designs in both the residential and commercial fields. Mr. Castle attended California State Polytechnical University in San Luis Obispo where he earned his Bachelors degree, and continued his education at the University of California at Berkeley, receiving his Masters degree. He is a registered Structural Engineer in California, Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Oregon and Kansas. Mr. Castle has published numerous papers on structural behavior of existing building structural components, and continues to be an active member of several industry related organizations.
Mark Schroeder's eleven years of professional experience encompass a diverse range of projects. Some of his projects include the design and investigation of heavy industrial, petrochemical, and nuclear facilities, universities and schools, amusement facilities, and residential facilities. He holds special interest in the area of design and retrofit of earthquake resistant structures. Mr. Schroeder received his Bachelors degree from University of California - Irvine, his Masters degree from the University of California at Berkeley, and also earned an MBA at the University of Southern California. He is a registered Structural Engineer for the states of California, Ohio, Texas and Massachusetts. In addition to writing numerous papers in the field of structural engineering design, he is a contributing member of the Structural Engineers Association of California.
