Phase 2 of this large development consists of the construction of two 6-level, 490,000 sq. ft. office buildings, a 3-level, 156,000 sq. ft. amenities building, and two parking structures. The project will also include expansions to utilities and infrastructure on the campus. The buildings include special features such as a fitness center, a security operations center, a health clinic, an auditorium, training rooms, and a cafe with outdoor dining. FWCSE is providing structural engineering services for the design of the interior and exterior cold-formed steel framing.

University of Colorado Biotech Building E-Wing Addition | Boulder, CO
This is a 4-level, 57,000 sq. ft. addition to the Biotechnology Building which increases the number of labs and classrooms. The expansion also provides additional indoor and outdoor common areas and larger conference spaces with views of the mountains. FWCSE provided the structural engineering and shop drawings for the exterior light gauge framing of the structure which was designed with the existing building in mind.

UCLA Health Training Center | El Segundo, CA
FWCSE designed and detailed the interior and exterior cold-formed metal framing for the new 120,000 sq. ft. Los Angeles Lakers Headquarters, which includes offices, a press room, and a full NBA training center. The training facility includes locker rooms, a player’s lounge, weight and conditioning rooms, and multiple exhibition courts with arena seating. Our scope included designing the decorative metal wall panel supports, insulated core metal wall supports, exterior integral aluminum fins, and metal screen wall supports.

Belles Street | San Francisco, CA
This project contains 7 residential townhouse units including parking. The units are four stories including garage. Units are framed with Type V cold formed steel and structural steel moment frames on the first level. The construction was certified LEED Platinum. Foundations were complicated by existing historic foundation left in place. FWCSE is the structural engineer of record for the entire project. The project was completed under the design-build delivery system.

UNLV College of Hospitality Hall | Las Vegas, NV
Completed at the end of 2017, this 93,500 sq. ft. building serves as the center for the Harrah College of Hospitality. The structure includes interactive classrooms, offices, open common areas, and a student run cafe. FWCSE was responsible for the design of all cold-formed steel systems for the building including the exterior curtain wall, ceiling and soffits supporting a combination of EIF and metal panel finishes, and the interior buildout.

Ball Aerospace AMC Expansion | Westminster, CO
The Aerospace Manufacturing Center (AMC) houses design facilities, product manufacturing, test ranges, and offices for the Ball antenna and video technologies. The 2-level expansion to the existing building adds 70,000 sq. ft. of test ranges, manufacturing spaces, and labs. FWCSE completed the exterior cold-formed steel framing design for the new section.

1700 Platte Street Office Building | Denver, CO
This 210,000 sq. ft. commercial space is comprised of a u-shaped building with one 4-level wing and one 5-level wing connected at the center by a large open atrium. The ground floor includes retail space with offices on the upper floors. The street side façade consists of red brick with the connecting portion in glass. The river side is entirely made of glass to allow for sweeping views of the downtown skyline. FWCSE designed and detailed the exterior light gauge framing.

UCLA Edie and Lew Wasserman Building | Los Angeles, CA
This six-story structure features both modern glazing and metal panels. In addition, the design included terra cotta tiles and plaster finishes to blend with the surrounding structures. FWCSE provided solutions for the various finishes and their vastly different behaviors.

Cal Poly San Luis Obispo | San Luis Obispo, CA
This project consists of nine, four and five story cold-formed steel framed dormitory buildings for the Cal Poly North Student Housing. The project contains 618 residential units, each with at least four private bedrooms. FWCSE was the structural engineer for all nine cold-formed steel framed structures. The project was completed under the design-build delivery system.

This project consists of 43 residential units over parking. It covers 105,000 square feet. The upper four story structure was constructed with cold-formed metal stud bearing walls. The lower two story parking garage is built utilizing post-tensioned concrete construction. FWCSE was the structural engineer for both the cold-formed metal structure and post-tensioned concrete podium.

Alliance Behavioral Health Hospital | Tacoma, WA
This is a new 67,500 sq. ft. behavioral health hospital that will have 120 beds and will provide treatment for patients suffering from behavioral health and dependency conditions. In addition to the inpatient facilities, the hospital will include a crisis stabilization center as well as an outpatient services center. FWCSE is currently designing the exterior light gauge framing and will provide assistance with determining the framing layout and criteria. The center is currently under construction and will start receiving patients in January 2019.

T-Mobile Arena | Las Vegas, NV
This 20,000 seat arena spans over 650,000 sq. ft. and has 50 luxury suites and dozens of private boxes. The structure was designed to hold a variety of events including multiple types of sports and concerts. The interior design was inspired by the local desert and the spaces are meant to mimic the different layers of the ground and mountains in the area. FWCSE provided structural engineering for the interior cold-formed steel framed partition walls, ceilings, and soffits on the event and concourse levels as well as several freestanding interior structures that house restrooms and retail vendors. FWCSE also provided engineering for secondary structural steel frames to support multi-story air plenums.

Great Wolf Lodge | LaGrange, GA
A 7-level, 491,000 sq. ft. hotel with over 450 rooms that includes a 93,000 sq. ft. indoor water park. The resort also features an 11,000 sq. ft. ballroom, retail and entertainment center, and an adjacent conference center, which is owned by the city. Despite weather and timeline challenges this project was fast-tracked and completed in time to open for the peak summer season. FWCSE completed the design of the exterior and interior light gauge framing for the entire complex.

60 residential units are located over retail space and parking. The project covers 77,000 square feet. The residential units are three story Type III cold-formed steel stud bearing walls with metal joists. FWCSE was the structural engineer for the residential units and partnered with another structural engineer who designed the podium building below.

NASA Marshall Space Flight Center | Huntsville, AL
This 5-level, 149,000 sq. ft. office building, also known as Building 4221, replaced a previous structure at the Marshall Space Flight Center and will serve as a new administration building. Creating a sustainable design was a top priority of the project and the building currently has a LEED Silver certification pending. FWCSE provided the structural engineering and shop drawings for the exterior light gauge framing.

Tacoma Rehabilitation Hospital | Tacoma, WA
This 2-level, 64,300 sq. ft. rehabilitation hospital has 60-beds and will be run as a joint venture between CHI Franciscan Health and Kindred Healthcare. The center will be used for the specialized care of patients who require long-term rehabilitation while recovering from strokes, neurological disease, and injuries to the brain or spinal cord. FWCSE provided structural engineering and shop drawings for the exterior and interior light gauge framing of the structure.

Omnia Nightclub | Las Vegas, NV
This was a complete redesign of an 80,000 sq. ft., multiple level nightclub located in the Caesar’s Palace Resort. The design of the interior space incorporated unique shapes with convex and concave curves in the ceilings and balconies overlooking the main dance floor. FWCSE was responsible for the design of all cold-formed steel systems for the interior buildout and outdoor lounge space. The interior buildout includes an extravagant ceiling comprised of highly articulated glass fiber reinforced concrete (GFRC) panels. FWCSE provided engineering for the cold-formed steel framing, as well as the cold-formed steel strut grid system, that supports the GFRC panels.

This project contains 123 residential units over parking and covers 226,000 square feet. The four and five story cold-formed steel framed residential structure above the concrete podium is a senior living community, offering independent and assisted living apartments with private decks and patios. FWCSE is the structural engineer of record for the cold-formed steel residential levels. The project was completed under the design-build delivery system.

Located on a sloping lot, the project contains 165 residential units. The units are located over parking and retail covering. The project contains over 160,000 square feet. Covering over 630,000 square feet this complex contains 300 time share residential units. The units are contained in 18 separate buildings. The buildings are three and four story cold-formed steel bearing walls and joists.

The Palms Hotel and Casino | Las Vegas, NV

FWCSE completed the design of the exterior low-rise and high-rise curtain wall systems for this 34 story concrete tower and surrounding three story steel casino, retail, banquet, and conference center. The high-rise tower prefabricated wall panels were two levels high and two rooms wide. These large panel sizes were used to minimize the use of the tower crane, which was also used by the general contractor to construct the primary structural system of the floors above. Light-gauge steel and structural tube steel were used in combination to accommodate the large window openings of the guest rooms. In many cases, the most critical load combinations occurred during the lift of the panels.

This Downtown San Francisco infill project contains nine residential units over retail and parking. It covers 28,000 square feet. The residential units are four story Type III cold-formed steel stud bearing walls and metal joists. FWCSE was the structural engineer for the residential units. The project was completed as a design-build with FWCSE teaming with a well known light-gauge subcontractor.
