Light Gauge Steel Load Bearing Structures

F&W has been actively designing structures with light gauge steel since its inception in 1991. As of 2008 we have designed over 2,000,000 square feet of light gauge bearing structures for universities, condominiums, apartments and senior living. Our designs are frequently developed as part of a value engineering efforts to save costs over systems design by other engineers. Our reputation and experience in this type of construction is unparalleled and built upon our long history of light gauge steel design.


F&W completed Jack London Gateway as a Design-Build structure using all light gauge steel for the upper three stories.		JACK LONDON GATEWAY \| Oakland, California \| This mixed occupancy building contains independent living senior apartments, parking garage and business/retail space. It is a three story light gauge bearing structure over a concrete podium.

		JACKSON HOUSE \| San Francisco, California \| This four story light gauge bearing structure consists of retail space, 9 condominium units and associated garage.

		CAL POLY SAN LUIS OBISPO \| San Luis Obispo, California \| There are nine, four and five story light gauge steel framed dormitory buildings for the Cal Poly North Student Housing. The project consisted of 618 units, each with at least four private bedrooms.

450 RHODE ISLAND \| San Francisco, California \| This project located on a sloping site consisted of four story metal stud framing over concrete construction. The project contains retail, residential and parking garage. There are 165 dwelling units.

Acacia Creek is a Type I metal stud framed building using light gauge joist floors with metal deck.		ACACIA CREEK \| Union City, California \| This cold formed steel framed residential structure above the concrete podium is a senior living community, offering independent and assisted living apartments with private deck or patio.

		885 WOODSIDE ROAD \| Redwood City, California \| This 43-unit residential condominium building is four and five story light gauge bearing structure over concrete podium and two levels of sub-grade parking.

		WESTIN DESERT WILLOW VILLAS \| Palm Desert, California \| This project consisted of 300 timeshare units in 18 separate buildings. The buildings are three and four story light gauge steel framed load-bearing construction on grade.
